Armstrong sees fairies - I see trolls

The Heralds John Armstrong - a man not known for ribald humour - sees the funny side of this debacle.

Just as the Moon is made of cheese and fairies live at the bottom of the garden, Winston Peters' lawyer, Brian Henry, wants to believe that the now notorious phone call from Owen Glenn to Peters never discussed a donation from the business tycoon to pay the legal bills of Henry's client.
However, the rest of us don't live on Planet Winston where black is white, white is what you want it to be and the story changes as fast as the shop-until-you-drop former Philippines first lady Imelda Marcos changed her shoes.
To say Henry's testimony to yesterday's meeting of Parliament's privileges committee was unconvincing is to be generous to a fault to the Auckland-based lawyer who was beamed into the hearing from Sydney by video conference.

Who is going to be the first to lay a complaint with the Law Society about Henry and his evidence fabrication. Really it is just not lying, he has gone to the next level of deception by attempting make the story fit the known facts.

If indeed he had rung from some hotel/motel it's less than an hours work to get the phone records of that from a reverse search of Telecoms data.(He would need a supporting letter from the PC for that) I am sure that such an effort would salvage a somewhat tattered reputation. If he fails to do this then he is also lying about his alleged call to Glenn requesting a donation, and the jogged memory story falls even flatter, and the bullshit on stilts ends up on Peters face.

Being of a somewhat cynical nature I cannot accept that there was ever such a call and Peters did solicit a donation and has lied about ever since.
