Irony

The Vatican yesterday issued a new document that denounces same-sex marriage, abortion and in vitro fertilization, and says the "natural institution of marriage" of a woman to a man faces unprecedented threats.

Ironic then that:

Spallanzani was a Catholic

He also discovered and described animal (mammal) reproduction, showing that it requires both semen and an ovum. He was the first to perform in vitro fertilization, with frogs, and an artificial insemination, using a dog.

HYPOCRITICAL JERK OFFS.

We don't normally comment on religion - its best ignored but we have been watching the whole catholic cover up over  pedophile priests with disgust. The Vatican  PR machine has begun to use an age old tool to  deflect the condemnation that has been piling up over attempts to cover up and minimize the damage caused by the legion of  sex offending priests around the world. 

The Vatican  has gone on the offensive trying to demonise their critics. It wont work. The damage to the Catholic church  must  be immense and one of the cornerstones of the church - humility seems to be in very very short supply. 

Catholics have this faith based get out of jail free card -  fess up and all is forgiven - no matter how bad the sin.

But to a committed agnostic it seems that  the sins are  piling up so high that the entire compliment of the Vatican's power brokers are going to wear out their rosaries before God ( if there is one)  is going to forgive them their arrogance. 

In fact the Vatican's actions are a show of  masochistic arrogance and oppression that can be best compared to the Burka wearing edict of the Muslims.

Pope Benedict XVI says the global financial crisis show the futility of money and ambition.
Benedict says that "now with the collapse of big banks we see that money disappears, is nothing and all these things that appear real are in fact of secondary importance." He urges those who build their lives "only on things that are visible, such as success, career,
money" to keep that in mind.The pontiff was speaking Monday as he opened the
works of a meeting of 253 bishops at the Vatican.Benedict says "the only
solid reality is the word of God."




thats all very well - and if he thinks that money means bugger all perhaps he could divest the vatican of some of its extensive financial interests and spread some money around some of its poorer people - stimulate the economy so to speak...
