NOOO JOHN DONT!

Dear John,

Nothing has distressed this blog more than your wobbles over Winston. We were thinkin about giving up our blogging clogs but the fact that you would even consider, even for a moment, giving Winston any credibility means that we still have a place in the blog world.

It's to remind you of the scullduggery, the lies, the double dealing, the troughing that is New Zealand First and its leader.

While we can understand that after watching the shenanigans over the ditch that politics is indeed a game where you can only bank on yesterday , but that does not give you a reason to eschew your principles. The VRWC blogs became a collective force only because we had one link in common - Not to see you elected but to ensure that Winston wasn't.

We are in no doubt that we had a fair bit to do with him spending a fair bit of time fishing these days.

So we dont want you to give the oxygen thief any oxygen. Ignore him. Please for the sake of all New Zealanders.

P.S
We promise never to mention that unmentionable thing if you promise never to mention Winston again.

DOES WINSTON HAVE ALZHEIMERS - OR SOMETHING LIKE IT

We wonder if the greatest political trougher in living legend has finally lost his marbles. Winston has given a speech to the Kawarau and Districts branch of Grey Power. Wow, now thats an influential group if ever there was.

He is making a play for a return to centre stage.

Interesting really, when we hear that many of his old colleagues are getting all sweaty because of intense police scrutiny.

His speech is peppered with Winstonisms and marshmallow racism ( Winston is chocolate on the outside but squishy white inside) with phrases like "Tsunami of Immigrants"

He talks about the lack of integrity of some politicians... Ahhh Winston , Winston , we remember the night at Nicolinis... Do you?

And we also know where there are four boxes of documents, where the futures of many including Winston still rest.

Will this make Eumenides wake from the slumber?

So if Winston wants to comeback - good - we have been really bored.

Eric grumpy with NZ First

Bloody good on Eric - you wouldnt want to cross this big bugger when he gets shitty and he will be mightily grumpy about NZ first spreading falsehoods.

CAMPAIGN NOTEBOOK: Lies Not Welcome

A campaign of “fear driven by lies” was not welcome in the Invercargill election race, Invercargill MP Eric Roy said today.
“For the last three weeks I’ve had superannuitants ringing me and my office saying that Labour is going around Invercargill spreading the lie that National will raise the age of eligibility for government superannuation to 68,” he said.
“John Key has announced National policy on this matter and made it clear that we will give seniors financial certainty by keeping the age of eligibility of NZ Super at 65. We have pledged to keep NZ Super at 66% of the average after-tax wage.
“Labour hasn’t made that pledge. Labour hasn’t put aside the funds for that pledge. Labour is hoping our seniors won’t notice. Well, I won’t play games with our senior citizens. They have given their working lives to this country. National won’t tell lies, and we will make sure their Super payments rise every single year.”
Mr. Roy said he had heard other lies.
“One of my staff was in the supermarket the other day and the checkout operator said she would have to vote Labour because she’d been told by Labour that National was going to cut Working for Families,” he said.
“That is an out-and-out lie. National will give families financial certainty by continuing all Working for Families payments at current levels. We are keeping 20 hours Early Childhood Education, and retaining caps on doctors’ fees.”
Mr. Roy said all of Labour’s campaigning had been based on personal attacks or lies.
“The sad thing is that, like the old adage, a lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its trousers on. Well, I’m not going to stand by while lies and twisting of the truth are used to undermine my campaign.”
He said Labour’s constant barracking that National was not telling the truth was rubbish.
“Our election pledges have been costed and outlined in full. People know what we are offering and there are no secrets.”

Reflections in a Murky Political Pool

  • I have seen a few narcissists - you get the odd one or two in prisons and I have had a close association ( not an inmate ) with prisons and I remain convinced that Peters is a classic example of narcissistic personality disorder.

This is from the Mayo Clinic

    http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/narcissistic-personality-disorder/DS00652/DSECTION=symptoms

    Symptoms
Narcissistic personality disorder symptoms may include:
Believing that you're better than others
Fantasizing about power, success and attractiveness
    Exaggerating your achievements or talents
    Expecting constant praise and admiration
    Believing that you're special
Failing to recognize other people's emotions and feelings
Expecting others to go along with your ideas and plans
    Taking advantage of others
Expressing disdain for those you feel are inferior
    Being jealous of others
Believing that others are jealous of you
    Trouble keeping healthy relationships
    Setting unrealistic goals
    Being easily hurt and rejected
    Having a fragile self-esteem
    Appearing as tough-minded or unemotional
Although some features of narcissistic personality disorder may seem like having confidence or strong self-esteem, it's not the same. Narcissistic personality disorder crosses the border of healthy confidence and self-esteem into thinking so highly of yourself that you put yourself on a pedestal. In contrast, people who have healthy confidence and self-esteem don't value themselves more than they value others.
When you have narcissistic personality disorder, you may come across as conceited, boastful or pretentious. You often monopolize conversations. You may belittle or look down on people you perceive as inferior. You may have a sense of entitlement. And when you don't receive the special treatment to which you feel entitled, you may become very impatient or angry. You may also seek out others you think have the same special talents, power and qualities — people you see as equals. You may insist on having "the best" of everything — the best car, athletic club, medical care or social circles, for instance.

But underneath all this grandiosity often lies a very fragile self-esteem. You have trouble handling anything that may be perceived as criticism. You may have a sense of secret shame and humiliation. And in order to make yourself feel better, you may react with rage or contempt and efforts to belittle the other person to make yourself appear better.

    Makes you think huh?

The boxing analogy is very fitting.

But will Winston go down for the count and will John Glozier care?

I want to have david farrar's kids

No, I dont really, but lets face it he does the best centre right / right / very right analysis there is . I am never in favour of reinventing the wheel. So go to Kiwi blog and read what Farrar says about the Williams interview.

He says it soo well.

So more to the point there is a sweepstake with a damn good bottle of oldish italian red up for grabs

Prima .Mano primativo 2001 for the person who guesses correctly how much the Velas did donate to NZ First.

Unlike me this wine is very elegant.....

guess away!

Its about Justice, Mr Williams

ntn-20080903-0907-NZ_First_Funding_and_SFO_Investigation-048.mp3

Wow - Mr Williams is a bit grumpy - this is from his onterview on Radio NZ this morning
with Katherine Ryan

Hooton will be laughing his head off .

Mental be buggered - Sometimes Hooton is fond of hyperbole but he is not a nutbar.

I think Mr Williams has gone to the Winston Peters school of charm and he has dug the hole a wee bit deeper as no - one in this affair seems to give the same donation figures twice.

And if Mr Peters, and Williams wants to know what the motivation is - its to end the corruption in NZ politics before it becomes the norm and to see justice done.

Simple really - no conspiracy of the media - or the blogs or even some political parties just a whole lot of people who know what is right from wrong saying enough is enough.

upper cuts and glass jaws

boxing is a murky world - so why does winston support it ?

  • A privileges committee that wont take toooo much shit from him
  • Grey Power who wont take being associated with him
  • The Greens who would be VERY uncomfortable being in govt with him
  • Bob Jones who wont lie for him
  • Owen Glen who wont lie for him
  • Scampi pioneers who are more than a little pissed off with not getting their quota when everyone said they should have got some.
  • Ross Meurant who took the fall for him

still the question is was the money declared by NZ First?

a history lesson

Time for a clean-up, says Sir Geoffrey.
By TIM DONOGHUE.

19 February 2003
The Independent Business Weekly
Former Prime Minister Sir Geoffrey Palmer this week called on Parliament's Primary Production Select
committee and its chairman David Carter to put right the Fisheries Ministry's wrong, unreasonable,
unjust and discriminatory administration before injustice became locked into the system in perpetuity.
Sir Geoffrey appeared before the committee investigating allegations of cor rupt administration of the
scampi fishery and official favouritism of Simunovic h Fisheries, a company accused of fiddling the
fisheries quota management syste m on a multimillion dollar scale.
Appearing on behalf of Sealord, our largest fishing company, and scampi fi sherman Neil Penwarden of
Barine Developments Ltd, Sir Geoffrey said the minis try's failure to mend its ways after so many court
rulings against its illegal and unreasonable administration simply compounded the ministry's record of
mism anagement.
Sir Geoffrey also noted the evidence before the committee that Simunovich h ad misreported catch,
saying it had caught scampi for which it had a permit, wh en it had in fact caught and exported fish for
which it had no quota and should have paid the ministry a "deemed value."
If this were indeed the case - and Simunovich denies it - then Simunovich w ould have ripped off the
ministry; first, by not paying the deemed values of it s by-catch, and again by falsely inflating its scampi
catch, thereby fraudulent ly boosting its catch history and thus its entitlement to future scampi quota a t
other scampi fishermen's expense.
Sir Geoffrey referred to an affidavit from David Patterson, a Simunovich sk ipper from 1989 until March
1998. Patterson's affidavit indicated there were se rious discrepancies in the manner in which
Simunovich complied with its statuto ry obligations in the important 1990-92 catch history years.
Patterson's affida vit spelled out how during this time Simunovich's scampi fleet vessels returned to port
about midnight.
He said the affidavit also highlighted an instruction for Simunovich staff to under-report scampi tails and
report all stargazers under the code for spott ed stargazers rather than the code for giant stargazers -
one a quota species a nd one not. He said the ministry knew what Simunovich was up to and wondered
wh y investigations started, were discontinued.
In her evidence before the committee, Ocean Law partner Sue Grey said the m inistry had made at
least four attempts to investigate Simunovich's scampi fish ing operations:
Ae Operation Export 1991-93;
Ae Operation Dog in late 1993;
Ae Operation Forest in 1998;
Ae Operation Metro in 2001.
Grey said it was clear from the ministry's files that none of the four inve stigations ever reached a
proper conclusion.
"Instead, despite some compelling evidence, every single one of these inqui ries simply fizzled out,"
Grey said.
She said the parliamentary inquiry presented an opportunity to review the a dequacy of the
performance of MFish's enforcement arm from the early 1990s to t he present time.
"It also offers a chance to review all the evidence to assess whether Simun ovich fishing returns for the
1990-92 period form a sufficiently reliable basis on which to allocate future scampi catching rights."
