HELEN CLARK - A BIG FAIL

We have been at home today with a small but energetic bug which spent the night trying to escape our two main orifices simultaneously.

However we did listen to a very interesting interview by Geoff Robinson on RNZ 's Morning report
It was a shocker... Apparently Helen Clark is the invisible woman - who is not fronting to answer criticisms of how the UN Development Programme is operating or not operating.

At the heart of the concerns are the rampant corruption the UNDP is infamous for.

Clark even went as far as refusing to answer questions from a particular journalist and requesting to talk another. She is becoming conspicuous for not answering questions while her colleagues in other parts of the organisation front on a regular basis. The only time the UNDP has fronted, and it was one of her minions and not her - was to talk about Samoa. But it wont front on these issues :

In New Zealand, Clark had the luxury of a sycophantic 4th estate. She has no such luxury in the United States where the underground press, blogs and indeed big news agencies wont put up with crap.

Is Clark out of her depth?

UPDATED And Gonzo has uncovered some evidence that shows Clark has indeed gone to ground over corruption at the UNDP .

ONLY VINDICTIVE ONE IS CLARK

Clark is turning into a whinging whiny old woman. First she reckons that it was out of pure " vindictiveness that the Nats have pulled back on her " sustainability agenda." We now see pragmatism instead of dogma underpinning NZ's approach to climate change sustainability etc and we are glad of it.

Then in the wholly sycophantic piece by Tracy Watkins, we see her whinge about the decrease in funding levels for aid mismanaged by the UN. Clark would do well to remember that she is parked up in one of the most expensive pieces of real estate in the world in an organisation that has written the book on bureaucratic corruption. The easiest way to ensure that poor people get what they need is to ensure that the organisation she works for cleans up its very dirty act. And for the record - how many tonnes of carbon has she racked up flying here there and everywhere to see how poor people live. A click of the button on a computer with a decent broadband should show her well enough.
Doesnt she have enough minnions to tell her?

So what is the carbon chomping airfare budget of Ms Clark and what is she doing to reduce the costs of the gold plated corrupt organisation she work for?

She is quoted as saying she had " one big job left in her."

Its a job in a big organisation - not a big job. And not one that will make a wit of difference to poor people around the world.

And by the way - who paid for watkins jaunt to the UN?

Which defeated Labour Cabinet Minister is said to have used taxpayer money to fly his taxpayer-paid and supposedly nonpartisan portfolio private secretaries to fly to Auckland to hand out Labour Party propaganda around his electorate and provide other advice and assistance to his campaign?

Hint: It’s the same defeated Labour Cabinet Minister who, as part of his electorate office’s work in assisting people to enrol to vote, is said to have destroyed voter enrolment forms from people suspected of being likely to vote National, and only forwarded the enrolment forms to the Electoral Commission if he thought the potential voter was a Labourite.

Another hint: It’s the same defeated Labour Cabinet Minister who used his taxpayer-paid staff to write creepy congratulations letters to every kid in his electorate who won a prize at their school prizegivings. And we’re not just talking secondary-school kids. Come third in chess at your local primary school in his electorate and you could expect to get a personally signed letter from your local MP – with handwritten “PSs” to the parents. Yuk.

MORE CORRUPTION FROM LABOUR

This is just another example of political corruption . This is bloody outrageous. we despise anyone who preys on the elderly. And elderly immigrants are particularly vulnerable.

Well done the NZ Herald for running this story to show how corrupt Labour has become - If they keep this up they will out corrupt Peters.

FRAN O'SULLIVAN IS ON THE BUTTON - AN INQUIRY INTO CORRUPTION IS A MUST

We agree with Fran, we have brought this issue of an inquiry up in the past - there is a stench about the fish scandals ( there is more than one of them) and we have one political party, NZ First who is linked to policy for pay and another, Labour who has turned a blind eye to the mounting evidence of corruption. Rodney Hide has told Roarprawn that he wont rest until he gets to the bottom of the scandal. Good. It should be one of the things he requires of any deals he does with National.

First Clark sez the tapes a cracker then she denies that she knows anything about it.

Its a lame tape but Bill needs a slap for being a mouthy dork. He needs to be tied to a post and John Key should be allowed to chuck kinas at him.

We knew that the Dominion Post was to break another story on Winston this week and this morning we get the full run down from NZ's best investigative reporter Phil Kitchin.

We posted on what a creep Winston was for stooping to such venal tactics . And this morning everyone in NZ who reads a paper or hears the TVNZ news will see that the money has been given to a trust associated with Brian Henry..

That is simply appalling - if Brian Henry is to retain any professional integrity he should say he wants nothing to do with any of the taxpayers cash.

We would willingly set up a separate fund for Susan couch for all New Zealanders to willingly donate to , money that she would get directly without her having to rely on Peters tainted cash.
In fact we see someone who commented on last nights post about this issue has already sent a cheque to Susan Couch.

But as we said last night we thing this is a bridge to far for most Kiwis and this most cynical of ploys by Winston will not be condoned by voters.

We knew the story had legs when fishing sources rang us the night the story broke and said there was merit in further investigation.

So expect much much more from this story over the next couple of weeks...

WINSTON IS A SELF SERVING CREEP

The more we think about Winston giving money that wasn't his, to someone who really does deserve it - the angrier we get. We know Winston is a complete dirtbag. If he had any shred of decency - at the longest stretch, he could have given the money to Susan Couch and shut up. Then his magnanimity would have been about her.

Instead he goes public, telling the world about his largess with the taxpayers money, so the whole issue is about him. How very narcissistic.
Its about him convincing the public, that he is big hearted. Its all about Winston.
We remain convinced he is corrupt.
But in what we think will be the final twist, we reckon the public of New Zealand will judge Winston harshly over this donation to Couch. It is simply too cynical.
It is quite simply the ugliest, most manipulative political play that this country has probably ever seen. We think this is the bridge too far, for good and honest and true New Zealanders. Using a woman who has suffered so much, just to improve his status with the voters of New Zealand will , we believe, be the one thing that turns the tide of public sentiment.

Kiwis hate braggarts, they hate liars and they hate manipulators and Winston has shown he is undoubtedly the master of all these vices. The public of New Zealand are more sophisticated than Winston has given them credit for and they will punish him come November the 8, not for being a liar, nor a manipulating bastard but just for being an unmitigated creep.

WINNIE GIVES SOME MONEY BACK

Susan Couch is a very deserving woman and we hope every last cent of this donation gets to her and only her.

We remain cynical.

WINSTON NOT OUT OF THE WOODS YET

We woke to hear Winston on Radio NZ saying he was vindicated after the Electoral Commission said there was no offence committed by NZF in relation to 2007 donation returns

But it appears that NZF has not filed all donations for previous years and the police are still investigating.

In a summary of a withheld decision, the commission said donations made to the party in 2005, 2006 and 2007 were not included in New Zealand First's returns of donations.

The commission says it is withholding the full decision for now to avoid potential prejudice to the continuing police investigation.

The commission also found the ACT Party should have disclosed it was provided with rent-free office space by Sir Robert Jones for a number of years before 2005.

So we wait for the full report and the results of the police investigation
