ITS ALL ABOUT SME AND CACTUS

Key is saying that the government focus is going to be on SME's - that's good for us because we are a SME. So cutting the red tape, and tax relief will help and the type of initiatives that the Wellington Chamber have initiated make bloody good sense too. Cactus, the icey eyed bint, has some reservations about Mr Weldon - we like to see alternative views and she has raised some valid issues - take a look here. We however, remain Weldon supporters. We would also like to see Alex Sundakov in the mix - if he isn't already, and anyone who has taken a business from 0 - $10 million plus in 5 years - There are more of them than you think and no property developers thank you. Then add in the boys from the Southland Building Society and South Canterbury Finance - they are prudent investment boys and know what a durable investment is. Chuck in Chris Lee as well - He knows what doesn't stack up. And of course Gareth Morgan. And check out what some of the boys in Maori Fisheries have been doing. - They have been wise stewards of a uber freezer full of fish.

There are heaps more - but we don't want to see the same old tired faces at the summit - we want successful new faces. And no sandals, batik skirts, dreadlocks and greenpeace tee shirts.

And the Mantra is a simple one - Governments don't create jobs Businesses create jobs - its the governments job to create the environment for businesses to create jobs. Simple.

We also want to be part of the task force that gives the public service a shake up - Public services are pissing themselves laughing at the government - you see in the time honoured tradition of public service they started to shift money, hide money, change the names of projects and whole departments, mid last year so that they could front up to the new boys and say savings - sure we will give you savings, when really Ministers will be presented with some manipulated accounts. So it will need an external review to ensure that there is no shilly shallying.

WE NEED LEADERSHIP - THE STORM CLOUDS ARE RISING

two polls have put the shits up National and it couldn't have come at a better time. National for all its intellectual depth but the recent polls have made them look complacent and they cant afford to be.

Key is still the preferred Prime Minister and this election will largely be presidential in style. Key is the horse to back - without a doubt his understanding of the global economy is what we need need to fight the tide of red ink flowing our way from far shores.

Roarprawn thinks that Gareth Morgan is one of the greater economists of our time and his warning a week ago was that New Zealand would be "Unbelievably exposed"

We reckon that this country is still ticking along thinking things are tickety boo and that all this financial stuff will just impact on the rich.

It wont , we will have a very very tough time of it - that is becoming clearer by the day.

We hear some stats around Wellingtons unemployment are going to make for some grim reading in the next few days.

We will be hit by the global financial crisis and we need a leader who understands the markets and is prepared to make the tough calls to keep our country safe from the ill winds that are about to buffet us.

WE NEED A PLAN - OR OUR ECONOMY COULD BE IN THE CRAP

Mark Weldon is saying it at Stuff

Fran O'sullivan is saying it in the Herald

And Gareth Morgan says we are " Unbelievably Exposed"

ad we agree - we need to hear from both political parties about what their strategy will be to counter the global credit crisis - we are burying our collective heads in the sand if we think that its not going to trickle down and impact on the families on Struggle street.

We can't afford to wait and then have to do a patch up job like the bail out the US has just voted on. They waited until their country was on its knees. And it is clear it might be too little too late.

We are a very small nation and we depend on exports for our economic survival so we must to plan to protect our fragile existence on the global stage.

We need leadership
We need a strategy
We need to hear from Clark and Key this week.

NZ - "UNBELIEVABLY EXPOSED" - GARETH MORGAN

If you are trying to make sense of the impact of todays credit crisis bailout failure then its worth listening to Gareth Morgan here

It is sobering - he says we are " toying with depression" if something isn't done to sort out the financial mess that is America..
