POWERSHOP

We have been with Powershop for about 8 months now - its fantastic. We have found it easy transparent and we are confident that its saving us money .
We live in a two bedroom apartment and run the washing machine, dryer and the dish washer daily.

Oct $95.35
Nov $82.61
Dec $73.85
Jan $73.01
Feb $73.33

We reckon the savings have been substantive. But its also the interactions with Powershop that we like .. The service is fantastic. We reckoned it was so good we endorsed it on their website. And the sign up was very easy and they deal with your old supplier. Can't get better than that.

And they are running this competition so if you join to go into the draw to win $4000.

The only quibble we would have is all the " save the planet" products they have. We think they have dubious merit.

WRONG OYSTERS!

We want to line up the picture editor at TV3 and chuck kinas at him ! The 6pm bulletin had a story on todays Bluff oyster harvest but they had file footage of PACIFIC oysters.. very bad. And to top it all off Dave Gooseneck got the name of one of the oyster boat skippers Stephen Hawke wrong - He called him Hawkins...

The Hawke will get you..... he is a legend - well is old man is and Stephen is the son of a legend...

As for the best oyster recipe - Easy - just naked - no prissy wee dribbles of lemon .. just naked with maybe a half turn of black pepper.. And they should be so fresh that they shiver....

These are the real Bluff oysters.... there are no substitutes..... apart from Southern Glory oysters which are really just Bluff oysters from a private school....

WANK ALERT

So this is the sign from a bunch of protesting lefties who think that RNZ is the only repository of intelligence? And we also note that 15,000 people are happy to sign up to another fatuous Facebook campaign to save RNZ but only 150 turn up to protest.. Duh.

Then while we are on the case of RNZ we were fascinated by this story in the Dom this morning.. Ex head of News Lyn Snowdon whos case is now the stuff of Employment Court legend has had the court accept her claim that there is a prima facie case to answer on her allegation that the books at RNZ were cooked.

Thats going to be a fun case to watch unfold...

We also hope that those RNZ Board members who are having difficulty with the current governments philosophy show some strength of character and resign. Its the good thing to do. We want to see the board populated with some visionaries. Soon.

FOUR STEPS FORWARD THREE STEPS BACK

A few weeks ago we launched Fab and Fifty -it was our very public way of providing us with some motivation to lose weight and get fit. Well we have some bad news and some good news. After a month we have lost half a kilo. Which lets face it is within the statistical margin of error.

A big poop and we would lose half a kilo.

But our clothes fit a bit better and we certainly can do two flights of stairs without raising a puff. So its not all bad.

And it was an extraordinary month on the social front. First there was the leaving of the BOIL. It took three weeks and at least five seperate events to see her off in fine style. Second there was the visit of our good mate the Tassy devil. Again a few wines here and there and a couple of scoffs. And then came the Hong Kong Harridan , Cactus - its was bubbles bubbles and Dockside, Arbitrageur, Shed Five, her amazing apartment at 1801 at the Bolton Hotel.

So thats the litany of excuses ... However this week its back to the grindstone- time to step up the steps, stop the snacking and say no to the wine demon entreaties.

Funny thing is we feel good. And thats what its all about.

And we see by Tau's Facebook that he is struggling to give up the fags. Good on him for manning up and telling everyone that he is a backslider. He will conquer it I am sure.

However if we have any advice on that front its to try Champix. We have three mates and a sister who are on it and so far they have all stayed off the fags. We are with you all the way Tau. Stick at it..

And as Cactus points out - even Barack Obama is having some trouble giving up the cancer sticks and with all the support people at his disposal that is just plain broken arse... But then we think that Obama is a broken arse anyway.

This is the last getting fit blog on Roarprawn for a while - they will go back to being on Fab and Fifty

And for me and Tau and for all the other people who are waging war their own demons we like these quotes .

"When we can begin to take our failures non-seriously, it means we are ceasing to be afraid of them. It is of immense importance to laugh at ourselves." -- Katherine Mansfield

"Failure is only the opportunity to begin again more intelligently." -- Henry Ford
