A post by David Farrar has got us wondering: if Wellington was a blogger, what would it's pseudonym be ?

BOILED DRY

This week has been fantastic, ACDC, catch ups with old mates and a fond farewell for the BOIL.

It gave us a chance to find what we think is a pretty good venue for parties, the Victoria Bowling club.

There were about 70 people, all manner of friends and family who turned up at the Bowling club to celebrate the birthday of the " Big Guy" aka the BOIL's very hunky hubby and their impending departure to a excellent job in Europe.
We have never been to the Bowling club before but what a superb venue, private , sheltered, relaxed and roomy.

We dined on steak sammies, sausages, salads and bread and drank jugs of good beer and the girls had a selection of nice wine. We were waiting for the arrival of David Farrar to see if he had anythingto say about this column from Fran O'Sullivan about the polling of National.

Farrar, aka Kiwiblog was a no show at the party. However we got a call from him this arvo, from the Victoria Bowling Club wondering where everyone was . He apparently had the wrong day in his diary. He will be expected to shout the BOIL before she goes for such organisational tardiness!

It really was one of the nicest parties we have been to for ages. And would recommend the venue to anyone looking for something a bit different.

DPF FEARS NO COMPETITION

Now david p farrar aka Kiwiblog seems to be a happy soul and at his age being a happy soul means you are well feed, well watered and well laid.

So it was with great interest we read this story about a girl drought on Great Barrier Island, one of Mr Farrars hidey out places.

So we can come to one of two conclusions..

So Whaleoil can play with his dork as his on site popularity grows but he is beached in the sexy stakes- its DPF who leads that race.

RARE LAMB

Kiwiblog's, fine author Farrar came a calling over Xmas and supped and ate for the day with friends and family. He has exposed some interesting myths on BustedBlonde here

And he appeared to enjoy the action at the Rangitumau Lilliputian aerodrome.

However is is much more of a crackberry head than BB as this picture shows!

However, he got one thing wrong.. The lamb he ate had been killed a couple of days prior. The one that was slaughtered while he was with us, ( and he didn't look) was destined for the son and heir.

Son learned from his grandfather how to kill and dress the carcass which was hung high in the tree overnight to harden up.

Farrar was good company and we did a bit of plotting and planning for 2010. So watch this space.

PAYING FOR THE NEWS -YIP BUT MAKE IT QUALITY BARRY

We are more than happy to pay for good stuff, good shoes, good make up , and good wine, lunches and dinners for good info. So we have no hesitation paying for NBR's online subscription. It makes good sense as long as NBR continues to deliver the very high quality articles that have dripped from the pens of the likes of Rob Hosking, Chris Keall, David Cohen Matthew Hooton and David Farrar in the past few months. If, after six months we dont get value for money - we will kick it for touch.

It has worked for the Wall Street Journal and the Financial Review. You pay for the premium content. It will be driven by demand and we think there is a demand. The continued popularity of Transtasman already attests to the popularity of "insider" premium analysis, news and dare we point to the elephant in the room - gossip....

So Barry , yet again you have shown that you happily put your well earned money where your mouth is.

We will sign up. Its simply the smart thing to do. Newspapers may die, ( makes you wonder what we will wrap our fish in chips in and cover the bottom of the budgie cage with) but online news is where its at and where it will end up.

And for all the believers that news will be forever free- yip the crap stuff maybe but the reality is the overshiny stuff wont last. In the end the demand will be for the best, the fastest and the most accurate and incisive and undoubtedly the most interesting - News and info that gives individuals and companies a turbo boost down the information highway will be a must have. And we will gladly pay for it.
