Who is Rangi Kemara?

Is that his real name?

Has he ever had access to the IT system in parliament?

he seems to have hacked trevor loudon's site in the past, so QED no doubt he could get into a Parliamentary mail server...

Yes, there is much about him on google, as I have just posted.
He certainly seems to have the technical expertise to hack into the parlimaentary systems.

But why should the police protect someone like this?
I thought they would be protecting Liarbour in some way?

he could have been under police surveillance and the cops didn't want to move on him over the Brash emails when they had bigger fish to fry.

Or he was an informer or even part of an elaborate plot to trap the police into the Urewera fiasco to gain publicity and sympathy for Iti and co.

Either way, the police could have sacrificed Brash to keep a radical source open.

Didn't Rangi Kemara get busted by the police because of his extensive Trade Me purchases of weapons and camo gear under the moniker "cyber_hori"? This would suggest that he isn't the uber-geek that would be capable of hacking the Parliamentary server. One would expect a slightly more sophisticated separation of identities.

Related to the Urewera case -still under wraps- anyting is possible? The Police therefore need to be careful what they release. So its not wise to blame the police if there is a connection with the Urewera case. Wonderful game of "who-dun-it" Keep the theories coming

Like thousands of others, I have also read the leaked police affidavit in which Rangi Kemara is accused along with a long string of other accusations linking to terrorism, of hacking the Nat Party website. I assume that is probably why the police also had him as one of the suspects in the Don Brash email thefts.

cant for the life of me think why kemara and tama iti are still walking the streets.from what ive read about their terror plans why havent the police locked them up and thrown away the key?

I suspect the police of playing a political game. They need to show us they are not by releasing the full version of their investigation and Rangis links to Hagar and any information they have that proves he was the hacker behind this crime for which I believe is punishable by up to 10 years in jail.

I heard that kemera did a job for parliamentry services. That would have given him access to Don's emails. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

This may seem like a fairly obscure linkage but both kemarra and clint rickards; are from the same maori iwi...in the 1860s maniapoto under the guise of the maori king movement, were hell bent overthrowing the government before we sent in troops and sent them packing.

Seems the big question is answered in there. Mr Kemara was arrested along with the other terror accused. You also see Nicky Hager in there too going to bat for Mr Kemara and the other suspected terrorists.

Trust people to make this into a racist issue. Going by what I have read in the leaked report and over at Whaleoil, this person is clearly a terrorist irregardless of his race and I am at a loss as to why he is still walking our streets. Didn't we charge this guy for planning to commit acts of terror?
