Every cloud has a silver lining. We have also been hearing what the Herald has been reporting that Williamson and Lockwood Smith wont be getting their prestigious portfolios back once they are in power.
That's good and we reckon it means that opens the way up for Key to freshen up the front bench - its should be a good mix of experience and fresh blood.
Good on Key - I read and interview from Brash the other day ( cant remember where )and he said one of the things he didn't work out fast enough that when he took over as leader he had the power to make more decisions than he did and he regrets that he didn't make some of those decisions earlier.
It looks like Key is not going to have the same reticence and he cant afford to either. So good on him for making some hard calls.
That's what we all want to see - a bit more pragmatic leadership.
So thank you Lockwood and Maurice for all your hard work and go sit down the back.
